Rwanda Education Project – #Raise4Rwanda

The story so far…

So you all know that one of our Digitall Comms‘ owners Amanda climbed the lesser known Yorkshire 3 peaks last month which kick started this project with the ambitious fundraising target of £1000.00. Amanda reached a fantastic £965.00 through all of your very kind and generous donations.

Following Amanda’s fundraising two very thoughful friends Angie & Fiona had big Birthday Celebrations & wanted to continue the support for this wonderful project, they asked all their friends and family to donate toward the Rwanda School Build Project

Along with this the regular supporters, friends and family of HCC we are now totalling a whopping £1900. Amazing right?!

The Story Continues

Yes it’s a fantastic effort and, well, we didn’t want to stop there…

As a recap the first phase of this vision to build the Rwanda School will cost our dear friends Kendi & Pacifique £8000.00. So we thought we’d go all out and race toward the £8000.00

How Far Does £8000.00 go to build a school in Rwanda?

Phase One will see Kendi & Pacifique purchase land, gain planning consent, and build 2 classrooms for the primary school children.

Our Why

The short of why we are raising funds: the children in Rwanda do not have access to free education like in many other countries around the globe. Unfortunately 1 in 5 children in Africa do not receive an education if they do not have the financial means to pay for school. Our friends, Pacifique and Kendi, are leaders in their community currently helping with children, women and men to build better lives for themselves and their families. (You may have seen and helped out previously with buying sewing machines for the women to learn skills and earn an income from our previous fundraising page!) Myself (and most of the team) have visited Muzanse and have seen the tremendous work Pacifique and Kendi are doing to love and provide for those in their community.

The current pandemic has the world hard, Kendi has had to make the difficult decision of permanently closing their rented school premises due to not having enough space for social distancing to meet the government guidelines.

Timeline

As you will realise the importance of the communities children getting back into education, we are hoping to reach the target of £8000.00 by the end of 2020. This way Kendi & Pacifique can plan for the build as soon as possible.
