The Icom MA-510TR

The Icom MA-510TR Class B AIS transponder is an all-in-one, stand-alone AIS transponder unit with an easy-to-read, wide-angled display. The MA-510TR automatically receives static and dynamic information broadcast by other AIS-equipped vessels and base stations while it simultaneously transmits your own vessel’s information.

The MA-510TR increases safety at sea by making it easy for vessels to keep track of each other’s movements.

Besides its basic marine transponder function, the Icom MA-510TR has a whole range of other features including navigation assistance, silent mode to temporarily stop displaying location, USB connectivity, a man overboard navigation function and a collision alarm function.

The Icom MA-510TR makes a great safety addition to small vessels, workboats and pleasure craft.

Icom MA-510TR Class B AIS Transponder

The Icom MA-510TR is a Class B AIS marine transponder for safer navigation at sea. The unit can be installed in a convenient place near the chart table, in the wheelhouse, on the flybridge or on a pedestal in the cockpit. The unit then aids safe navigation at sea by transmitting your location to other vessels and displaying the location of other AIS-equipped vessels on an easy-to-read screen.

The screen on the MA-510TR is a high-resolution 4.3-inch-wide colour TFT display that is readable in everything from direct sunlight to darkness. Information displayed includes information about vessels identified as potentially hazardous based on their speed and movement. There is also a target filtering function to remove displayed vessels when needed, such as in busy areas.

A collision alarm function alerts you if a vessel comes into closest point of approach (CPA) or time to closest point of approach (TCPA) range. Audio and visual alerts sound. When connected to external audio equipment installed on the chart table or flybridge, the collision alarm function will alert you even when you are away from the device.

The Icom MA-510TR also features a navigation function that guides you to a specified waypoint or AIS target. Also, assign a maximum of 100 favourite locations or points of interest.

The device also features a silent mode, under which the AIS transmitter is switched off for privacy, such as for vessels that do not want to reveal the location of good fishing waters.

A man overboard function also further boosts vessel safety. The MA-510TR can assist you in finding a person who has fallen overboard. When the MOB button is pressed, the GPS automatically marks a waypoint at the current location, allowing you to navigate to that MOB waypoint.

The MA-510TR has DSC (digital selective calling) functionality. Transmit an individual DSC call by selecting an AIS target and the voice channel on the device.

With NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connectivity, the MA-510TR can connect to an NMEA 2000 network (an external plotter, marine radar and VHF radio). Using NMEA 0183/-HS connectivity, the transponder can connect to a transceiver, plotter device, marine radar or GPS receiver. USB connectivity also enables connectivity to other devices.

Other features are compatibility with 12 V and 24 V power sources, an anchor watch audio alert function and IPX7 waterproof protection (up to 1 m depth of water for 30 minutes).
