Icom GM800 GMDSS MF/HF Marine Transceiver with Class A DSC
The Icom GM800 is Class A DSC radio designed for SOLAS-regulated vessels that operate in international waters, such as commercial ships and passenger vessels. The GM800 meets the UK Marine Equipment Regulation (MER) “Red Ensign mark” and the EU’s Marine Equipment Directive (MED) “Wheel mark”.
Used alone, the GM800 is a complete GMDSS MF/HF communication system. With its in-built Class A DSC, the dedicated DSC watch-keeping receiver continuously scans the six distress channels in rotation. A total of 100 MMSI numbers for DSC calling can be stored with 10-character ID names. Vessel owners can also install the GM800 in tandem with the Icom GM600 VHF radio for a complete GMDSS VHF, MF and HF radio station.
The GM800 also installs conveniently with other bridge instrumentation. The device’s waterproof remote head can be neatly installed on a bridge, and the black box controller can be installed elsewhere and out of sight. The GM800 also features high-quality loud and clear Icom audio technology with flat frequency response and a wide frequency range.
The device’s 4.3 inch wide TFT LCD display is easy to read, with a wide viewing angle and high-resolution character display with good readability in all conditions. The GM800 is also ruggedly built. The front panel is IPX7 waterproof rated and can be submerged under 1 m of water for 30 minutes. The rear panel is also corrosion-resistant for a long life.
Other features on the GM800 are a remote distress alarm, printer connector (Centronics IEEE1284), IEC 61162-1 interface for GNSS receiver, 125W* (PEP) output power (tuner-output) and a built-in 24 V DC-DC converter.
