Icom GM600 GMDSS VHF Transceiver with Class A DSC
The Icom GM600 is a radio designed for SOLAS-regulated vessels that operate in international waters. Used alone, it is a complete GMDSS VHF communication system, with Class A DSC operation. With Class A DSC, the dedicated DSC watch-keeping receiver continuously monitors DSC calling channel 70. A total of 100 MMSI numbers for DSC calling (Individual ID: 75, Group: 25) can be stored with a 10-character ID name.
Vessels are SOLAS compliant with the GM600. The device meets the UK Marine Equipment Regulation (MER) “Red Ensign” Mark and the EU’s Marine Equipment Directive (MED) 2014/90/EU “Wheel Mark”.
Used in conjunction with the Icom GM800 MF/HF radio, both radios provide a complete GMDSS VHF, MF and HF radio station for safe communications in international waters.
The GM600 is also ruggedly built and features high-quality loud and clear Icom audio technology. The front panel is IPX7 waterproof rated and can be submerged under 1 m of water for 30 minutes. The rear panel is also corrosion-resistant for a long life. On top of normal audio use with the GM600’s in-built speaker, the unit can also deliver 10 W of power to an external speaker for extra loud audio.
The device’s 4.3 inch wide LCD display is also easy to read, with a wide viewing angle and high-resolution character display with good readability in all conditions. Controls are also intuitive to operate with a clearly labelled keypad.
The GM600 also features a PS-310 DC-DC converter that provides uninterrupted 12.6 V of power from a 12 V or 24 V power source and a floating ground connection. This is essential for MER/MED certification compliance.
